candle care
We are simply thrilled that you have chosen our wood wick soy candles.
Your safety is important to us - so please read the following safety instructions before using our product:

-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Light your candle in a well ventilated room on a flat, heat resistant surface.
-
Ensure your candle is away from pets, children and flammable materials.
-
NEVER move a burning candle, only do so when the flame is extinguished and the wax has cooled.
-
DO NOT trim your wick while the candle is burning or if you just extinguished the flame. Allow for the wax to cool before trimming.
-
STOP burning the candle once there's about a 1/4 of an inch of wax left at the bottom of the jar.

HERE ARE OUR THREE BEST TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WOOD WICK CANDLES

1) The first burn is the most important!
The first time you burn your candle, make sure the top surface of the wax melts all the way to the edge of the candle. This may take a couple of hours - Doing this will prevent TUNNELING and will promote an even burn each time. This is super important! If a candle begins to tunnel, it can be difficult to fix.

2) Watch those wood wicks!
Our candles are all wood wicked! We use booster wicks that are made with natural and untreated wood so they can vary slightly in thickness and grain. In general - wood wicks can take a few goes to get started but once lit, it should burn beautifully.

Simple tips:
- Keep your wick trimmed (0.5mm high) and free of charred bits.
- If the flame is too high you need to trim your wick (it should NOT be larger than an inch). Your flame should be a low smouldering flame.

If your wicks won't light:
- Try lighting your candle on an angle.
- Make sure you light the wick starting from one corner to the other end.
- The wax will fuel the flame, this is why it is important to have the wick completely lit.

If your wick won't stay lit and it isn't a tunnelling problem, then the wick is most likely too long or it needs to be cleaned of charred material (just make sure the candle has cooled before you do this).

3) Too late my candle is tunnelling!

This would've happened if you didn't burn the candle long enough. The best solution to fix this is to burn the candle long enough until the wax melts all the way to the edges of the jar. If you're able to do this, then you would have essentially reset the wax.

If your wick is drowning in wax:
-
try using a napkin to soak up the excess wax and then wait for the candle to cool down before relighting it. If this doesn't work then..
-
try scraping out wax from the edges of the jar to create a sort of 'dome'.

These suggestions are no guarantees that you have fixed your candle. For this reason, we like to stress that prevention is better than a cure! (refer to tip 1)
